2007 09 (Sep) 1st - New TRENDnet Wireless N-Draft family based on Atheros’ XSPAN technology |
|
Australian users will be among the first in the world to enjoy the advanced speed and range of the new TRENDnet Wireless N Draft Router and PC Card products.
Scheduled to arrive in Australia in October, the new technology is designed to support multiple high-bandwidth data streams in the home or office. With Atheros’ XSPAN technology, users can enjoy multimedia content throughout their home, enabling increasingly popular applications like High-Definition (HD) video and audio streaming, online gaming and VoIP simultaneously on a single network.
The TRENDnet Wireless N-Draft family, based on the 1.0 Draft 802.11n specification, provides up to six times the speed of 802.11g and 802.11a/g products. These initial products operate in the 2.4GHz frequency band, making them backward compatible with existing 802.11b and 802.11g solutions. The new Wireless N-Draft family is ideal for consumers who want flexibility, mobility and whole-home coverage, combined with the throughput of traditional wired networks.
Powered by Atheros’ XSPAN technology, the new products provide significantly higher throughput at extended ranges primarily achieved using MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) technology. As a result, these products offer physical data rates up to 300Mbps -equivalent to 150-180Mbps of real user throughput performance. A single home network based on TRENDnet’s Wireless N-Draft products is capable of distributing several HD streams throughout the home while providing plenty of bandwidth for VoIP calls, playing online video games, sharing digital photos and the transferal of data files.
